About us

The Bajnok Ferretry was founded in spring 2006 to create a quality breed for demanding customers who search companion pet ferrets. As founder and presidency members of the European Union of Ferret Breeders we follow strict breeding regulations. We do not breed neither deaf nor (mono)cryptorchid ferrets, nor females that have problems with bringing up their kits, and do not use inbreeding. The health of the future generations is highly the most important for us.
We do not sell ferrets to pet shops, mass "breeders", research purposes, hunting or as birthday present.

We do not keep our animals in cages, we keep and handle them as companion pets who are really important to us.
The adults and kits eat raw poultry, rabbit and fish, complemented by eggs (salmonella-free), dried fish, cod liver, premium quality dry kibbles (Orijen, Acana) and supplements. Our animals are always clean and healthy, frequently checked by vet, treated against parazites and yearly vaccinated. For cleaning and washing we only use the best quality, environmental friendly products.

The following points are considered when choosing our breeding stock (not in order of importance) :

  • at least 2 generations of known ancestors
  • good breeding results of ancestors
  • EUFeB Certificate of Breedability
  • not extreme body size (tiny or huge)
  • healthy outfit
  • proportions
  • strong bone structure
  • good musculature
  • reliability
  • easy controllability
  • colour
  • Kits can be taken away at the age of 7-8 weeks. By that time they are litter-trained and socialized, are microchipped, dewormed, treated against parazites, vaccinated and checked by vet. We only sell absolutely healthy and friendly kits (however some polecat-blood kits may be shy). When training the kits we try to accustomize them to as many situations as possible (house, garden, travelling, dogs, cats).
We only give the highest quality kits for breeding. If the aim of purchase is breeding, please inform us about this fact when making a reservation. If we consider the chosen kit not adequate for future breeding (at that stage), we inform the future owner about this fact and offer another kit. We expect owners to inform us about breeding plans with our kit and reserve the right to refuse a planned couple if it would include inbreeding or bloodlines that are known to have genetic problems, or bloodlines from "breeders" that are not reliable.
  • We expect the future owners to give us information about the descendants of our kits as it is great help in creating the highest possible quality breeding stock. In case of panda, badger and DEW ferrets we ask the owners not to mate them with patterned ferrets, to help keep the lines healthy, however in case of patterned ferrets, we can not guarantee that all kits in the litter would have perfect hearing.

We give the following with our kits:

  • official EUFeB Certificate of Origin in laminated format, signed and stamped .
  • official EUFeB Family Tree in laminated format, signed and stamped
  • microchip
  • veterinary health certificate
  • basic vaccination
  • treatment against inner-outer parazites
  • EUFeB registry nr.
  • pet passport
  • if necessary, a sack of cat litter that the kit is used to and some food.

After taking away the kit we keep in touch with the owners in email or sms and answer all upcoming questions and concerns.
  • If the owner can not keep the ferret anymore, has to inform us about this fact and ask for our permission to give the ferret to a new owner, or may give it back to us.
